Corn Maze

The other day we went on our annual trip to the Liberty Corn Maze. We had a really good time and I got to check off another thing off of my fall bucket list. I need to try & remember something for next year though, no matter how early we go I need to dress warm. It was freeeeezing. Plus, I was the co-navigator so I had to have a map in one hand & flashlight in the other.
Thanks to me & Nate, we actually got every single station in the corn maze. Yeah, we're awesome!
Well, I have 3 out of 16, that's good, right?
Next Sunday, Josiah & I will be going with our church to the Red Barn Farm, hopefully with that trip I will at least have hayride & pumpkin patch crossed off. Maybe even apple picking, who knows!

Instagram Pictures

Since, I don't have an iPhone, I never used instagram. But, now that my amazing husband bought me an iPad I've been using instagram like it's going out of style! :)
I love wearing boots! I think boots are tied with a good pair of heels as my favorite shoes! (And that's saying a lot because I love shoes)
My husband just dropped in at work Saturday to bring me flowers! No reason, just cause. Everyone at work asked, "is he in trouble?" or "does he want to buy something?". Nope, just because he loves me!
Then, my aunt bought me this watch, I love it. I told her it was almost the exact same as the one I'd pinned on my board, cheaper though.
Target $16.99                                 Fossil $135

Have a great Tuesday!!!

So, I had to come up with something to make for my church lunch this past Sunday & I was looking through pinterest recipes & I found this one. Mmmm, I figured since fall is here I should take advantage of all the fall recipes I have!
Cream the sugar & butter together
Add eggs & vanilla
Stir the dry ingredients together.
Add the 2 mixtures together.
Chill the mixture in the fridge. Roll into tablespoon balls & roll into the cinnamon & sugar mixture.
Cute cookie dough!
You can always call your mom when the mixture is chilling! :)
 Yum! I love snickerdoodles.
Beat all of the ingredients for the pumpkin cream cheese together.

3. Add eggs & vanilla, mix.
4. Stir dry ingredients together in separate bowl, Add to creamed mixture.
5. Chill for 20-30 minutes. Roll into tablespoon sized balls, roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture.
6. Bake for 8-10 minutes.

Homemade Applesauce

First off, don't forget that Tuesday is the drawing for the raffle! Tuesday! I will post the winner on Tuesday!!!! Don't forget about that! I will post the raffle at the end of this post.

I have a recipe for you all, it's homemade applesauce. Nothing says the beginning of fall like apples & cinnamon. (Can you guys tell that I'm just a bit excited for fall?)

Also, if you buy fruit & then don't get around to eating it before it goes bad. This is an excellent idea to use up all those apples. Because, at least in my house the applesauce gets eaten way before the apples would.

If you are serious about making a lot of applesauce, or if making pies with your apples. I would highly recommend investing in one of these. Oh my gosh, it is a life saver. It took me no time to core, peel & slice 6 apples. I can't imagine what it would've taken me if I were doing it all by hand. Bleh. (& it also has a vacuum base which keeps it from sliding around) The credit of this Apple Peeler goes to my smart & wonderful mother-in-law.

It's so simple to use, well that is once you figure it the apple goes where it is supposed to! :)

Apple goes on, you crank the handle & there you have it the apple cored, peeled & sliced.

It leaves the core of the apple on the prongs & you just pull the part off. Simple!

Put the apples in a bowl & microwave. (I will admit I had to do a little bit of work, I did have to cut up the apples a bit more than this, otherwise they wouldn't really cook down. But, really if that was all the "work" I had to do, I'm good with that)

So, this is after I cooked it for awhile (I ended up cooking for about 20 minutes taking breaks to stir) & I added my cinnamon. So, it cooked down a bit more than this.

This is the final result & it was delicious. It is much chunkier than the applesauce you would buy at the store. But, I only added cinnamon & apples. No sugar. No artificial sweeteners. No preservatives. Also, much cheaper. Why would I ever buy the store bought stuff? Also, I made the mistake to use apples that were not meant for baking. If I were to have used the apples used for baking, it would not have taken 20 minutes to cook down.

Homemade Applesauce

Apples
Sugar (I didn't use any)
Cinnamon

1. Peel, Core & Slice Apples
2. Place in a microwave safe bowl & cover with plastic wrap or a paper towel
3. Microwave on high until apples are soft
4. Stir every two or three minutes, so they'll soften evenly
5. Add sugar & cinnamon to taste (like I said before I didn't use any sugar, healthier & it was delicious)

Also, a good portion gauge would be 1 apple per person.  I used 6 apples when I made my batch.

My husband came up with an idea because he loves applesauce so much. That, when I learn how to can, we will can applesauce! Hopefully, when I learn I will post that on here!

It works Distributor!

Hey Everyone!
I don't know if you have ever heard of It Works! or not, but I just signed up as a distributor.
Here is a picture of someone before they used the wraps & a picture after 6 wraps.
She says ( the girl in the picture), " I did my first wrap in June. I do eat well & excercise very regular. But, that wasn't getting ride of my 'hanging skin' & stretch marks." She also uses the defining gel 2-3 times a week.
This is the ultimate body applicator aka the wraps. They are $99 dollars, but if you sign up as a loyal customer you get them for $59.

Short version of what it is: The Ultimate Body Applicator uses a botanically based cream formula that, when applied to the skin, gives you detoxifying, tightening, toning and firming results that last. The botanical ingredients help to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin while reducing the appearance of cellulite and redefining the appearance of your body's contours. Some of these cutting edge ingredients work to give you visible results in just 45 minutes, while other ingredients in the formula continue to work over the next 72 hours, leading to progressive results.

Long version of what it is:
This botanical based body contouring wrap is designed to detoxify, tighten, tone and firm. It helps minimize the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks and has the added side effect of inch loss.

It’s good for us as DT’s to understand how it actually works. The UBA is classified as a cosmecuetical. That simply means a cosmetic product with biologically active ingredients claiming to have medical benefits. Our product has four of these benefits.

The first of these benefits is LIPOLYSIS, which simply means, the breakdown or destruction of fats. Your body naturally wants to break down the fat molecules in your fat cells. The UBA has plant extracts and botanicals that penetrate into your cells and they promote this process (Lipolysis). When you have smaller fat molecules, those are allowed to leave the cell. They get burned up as energy throughout the rest of your body.

The second benefit is DETOX. One of the fat cells main functions is to store toxins. The plant extracts and botanicals help to release those toxins, which in turn shrink the fat cell.

The third benefit is MICRO-CIRCULATION IMROVEMENT, which allows for toxins to be removed and for good nutrients to come in.

The fourth benefit is an ANTI-INFLAMITORY EFFECT. Toxins in our fat cells make areas inflamed. Our wrap helps decrease inflammation, which gives you a more tightened and toned look and feel!

A few of the ingredients I’d like to highlight are Seaweed (Bladderwrack), Jojoba oil, Eucalyptus oil and Ivy.
Seaweed helps the detoxification process. It speeds up the elimination of toxins from cells and is a natural cellular renewal ingredient. It also helps to nourish and re-mineralize the skin.
Jojoba Oil is closest to our own Sebum (Sebum is an oily substance secreted by the sebaceous glands that helps prevent hair and skin from drying out.) so the body will absorb it more readily than any other oil or product.
Eucalyptus oil is an anti-inflammatory, which regenerates the skin. It also stimulates our mind and bodies.
Ivy is well known for its toning, tightening and skin refining properties. Ivy Extract has slimming and anti-cellulite properties, as it prevents water accumulation in skin tissues.

Defining Gel is $79 retail but if you sign up as a loyal customer you get the defining gel for $45.

The Defining Gel is an intensive skin care gel that deeply hydrates while firming areas such as the abdomen, back, legs, and upper arms. When used regularly, Defining Gel minimizes the appearance of cellulite and varicose veins. It also works on stretch marks, spider veins & rashes. It is the same stuff that is in the rash just less concentrated.

These are all great products & I highly recommend them! Let me know if anyone is interested in the products or wants to sign up as a loyal customer or distributor!!!

Guest Post from my sister-in-law (aka best friend & sister)

My sister-in-law texted me sometime last week & said "we painted our couches". I'm pretty sure I didn't even respond, because in my head I'm thinking, "painting couches?" Can that even be done? Then, she called me up & was telling me about it & we both decided she needed to do a guest post on my blog!
So, here she is my sister-in-law (aka best friend & sister), Bekah Young.
&& yes, her roommate is also named Rebecca, so don't get them confused!
Bek/Bekah = Sister-in-law
Bec = Roommate

---Well, Bec and I moved off campus last year and had no couches. Then, thankfully, my parents said, “Here you go, kids! Enjoy our old couches, for free!”

As a college student, I hear “free” and naturally accept. So we didn’t really care that they weren’t exactly the most beautiful couches in the world (let me interject and say that my parents got these couches for pretty cheap back in the day when they had three teenagers to support, so it didn’t really matter that they weren’t gorgeous). It also didn’t matter that you could definitely tell that it had unquestionably been used by two boys (and all their friends) and a girl (and her friends, who all had nail polish)!

However, since my roommate and I are now seniors and are “grown-up,” we decided that we would be daring and paint our couches. Yes, I said paint our couches! “Whaaaaaaat!?” and “Hooow!?” have been two very common responses to our announcement of our newly painted couches. Well, folks, my best friend/sister-in-law is kind enough to let me tell you!

First, I would not recommend officially making this decision at about 5:30 in the evening (even if you have thought about it for months), purchasing the paint, driving to – insert nearest convenient art supply store -, driving back and beginning your project at about 8:00. However, I can tell you that it’s definitely do-able.

So you’re all wondering… Supplies! We have a three-seat couch and a love seat – pictures below – so we used the following portions.

Supply list:

1 gallon of latex/acrylic paint.
4 8 oz. bottles of Textile Medium (or maybe even 5).
Foam brushes (you know, the super cheap ones!).
Foam roller.

Let me say that we did this a little bit awkward, so I’m going to tell you how I would do it if I were to do it again with all this knowledge from our mistakes!

I would get an empty paint can and dump half of the gallon in the empty. Try your best to split it 50-50. Mix 2 to 2 ½ bottles of textile medium in each paint can – stir well!

Then, guys, it’s simple… Start painting!

Use the foam brushes to paint the details, like the edges and cracks of the couch. Thankfully, we were blessed with an extremely simple couch, so this went quickly and very easily. Next, use the foam roller to paint the big, open spaces. Bec took the details and I took the roller – I think this helped it go faster, But you could definitely do it by yourself.

You can see my roommates arm painting the details. We thought about pictures after we got started, whoops. And you can see, the couch is a little bit rough
Like I said, we did this in a super awkward way. We decided after we finished painting the big couch that we would take off the skirt. So this is before we finished painting it. And you can also see where we had a bit of an accident… Whoops!
Done with the big portion! Now on to the love seat and the cushions!
Imagine pictures of the love seat and the cushions. It was so late, we just wanted to be done and head off to the lake for the weekend

The finished product!
All snuggly in our little, bitty living room! Our dog, Ty, hasn’t quite gotten used to the fact that we won’t let him on the couches anymore. He gets super pouty about it too. Silly boy! Also, you can see the gorgeous t-shirt quilt my sister made for me over on the love seat! It’s really rather simple! We’re planning on painting the legs of the couch a bright blue and making some cute pillows all in the blue family. Also, hoping to get my sister to help us make some covers for the seat cushions. So perhaps, if I’m allowed, an update when these things are finished!

Fall Bucket List & Homemade Scentsy Bars

Fall is here.

Well, not quite in Missouri--
You can't wear all those cozy boots & scarves quite yet. Hopefully soon though.

But, I decided to do a fall bucket list. This ways I don't miss any awesome fall activities.
I will check each one off with a dry erase marker as I do them. Hopefully, I can do them all this fall!

I saw on a blog that you can make your own scentsy bars. I needed some new fall scents, so I thought I would give it a whirl!
I went to wal-mart & bought a pumpkin spice candle. I made a double boiler. Now the melting of the wax process took a while. So, be patient!
It's Working!
After, the candle is melted down to wax. Pour them into ice cube trays & stick them into the freezer to harden.
Pop them out of the ice cube trays & you have homemade scentsy bars!

Don't forget there is only 1 week left to get entered into the giveaway. I will draw the winner next Tuesday. a Rafflecopter giveaway There has been some confusion as how to enter the giveaway, hopefully this helps clear things up.

Click on the giveaway & put in your email or facebook. Then, click the do it buttons. Because the giveaway doesn't force you to do those things. You must actually go & do those things such as follow my blog, comment on my blog, or like my facebook page. Otherwise, your giveaway entry will be deleted from the contest

On the other hand following my blog, commenting on my blog or liking my facebook page doesn't automatically enter you into my giveaway. You must go to this link & log in with facebook or your email. Then, click the do it buttons.

Thanks Everyone! Hope you have a great rest of the week & happy fall!!!
